Mýto pod Ďumbierom is a mountainy village situated in the protected area of the Low Tatras National park (NAPANT).
The village arose in the 15-th century as a vassal of the Brezno city on the way from Brezno to the Liptov region. Precious metals and iron were mined here till the 17-th century.
Majority of the local population worked as farmers, cattle keepers, shepherds, later as workers in the iron-works in Podbrezová and sawmills in surroundings (especially since the 19-th century). Many of them worked in their free time at home as weavers. Only a few rustic houses from the 19-th century remained till today. You can find them in small groups along the road.
In the village there is an Evangelic church from the years 1822 - 1828, rebuilt in classicistic style in 1932 and a Roman-Catholic church from the year 1840.
