The village is situated in the south of the city Ružomberok in a picturesque nature of the Great Fatra (Veľká Fatra) mountains. Liptovské Revúce originally developed from a settlement Hričkov, which was founded by the end of the 16. century and the beginning of the 17. century in the upper part of the river Revúca. Both Dolný Hričkov as well as Horný Hričkov are historically documented. The new name Revúca was later applied on both Hričkov settlements, creating an extensive community with a name Tri Revúce (today known as Nižné, Stredné and Vyšné Revúce).

Except for log houses also a Roman-Catholic church built in a baroque-classic style from the year 1819 is an important cultural monument. It was built on the foundations of an older wooden church from the year 1694. Wall paintings and canvas were painted by a famous Slovak artist Jozef Hanula.
